Inspiration
My mask is inspired by colors associated with African movements throughout history such as red, green, and black which are associated with the Pan-African movement and movements for African and Black Liberation. In using these colors that are intimately tied to cultures within Africa, the mask and its cultural origins are connected to its place of creation along with movements within the United States. Inspiration is also drawn from symbols common in Ghanaian culture with a similar motivation to connect the mask to Ghana and the African culture that it symbolizes.
