Inspiration
Colors play a large role in the foundation of my mask design. With respect to Ghanain culture, red is most closely associated with blood and seriousness. It is therefore used as a general symbol of sacrifice and struggle. Blue is most closely associated with the blue sky. In Ghana, the sky is said to be the "abode of the Supreme Creator," thus addressing more religious and spiritual aspects. The color is, therefore, used as a symbol of peace and harmony. These 2 colors are the most prominent ones, creating a certain contrast I believe to be both symbolic and artistic.
